Membership

Some would view church membership as exclusive, and would simply prefer to attend services on Sundays. Others perhaps view it as an opportunity to gain greater authority, resources or notoriety. At New City, we believe that Church membership is an opportunity for discipleship and personal holiness through accountability, shepherding, and care.

"Give yourself to the Church. You that are members of the Church have not found it perfect and I hope that you feel almost glad that you have not. If I had never joined a Church till I had found one that was perfect, I would never have joined one at all! And the moment I did join it, if I had found one, I should have spoiled it, for it would not have been a perfect Church after I had become a member of it. Still, imperfect as it is, it is the dearest place on earth to us... All who have first given themselves to the Lord, should, as speedily as possible, also give themselves to the Lord's people." Charles Spurgeon

Step 1: Membership Class

During this class, you'll have the opportunity to learn about the vision, values, and philosophy of ministry of New City. You'll get a chance to hear about our passion for gospel-centrality, mission, and relationships.

If you are interested in becoming a member reach out to the Elders to inquire about the next class.

Step 2: Pastoral Interview

We believe it's incredibly helpful to hear from you about your story, how you came to know Christ, and how you perceive the calling God has placed on your life for His mission.

After taking the membership class, a leader from New City will reach out to you to schedule your membership interview. This is helpful for us to get to know you better and answer any questions you may have moving forward.

Step 3: Become a Member

After your pastoral interview, we'll walk you through any further considerations such as baptism, counseling, service, etc.

After this, you'll be invited to attend the next member meeting where you'll have an opportunity to join the church formally!
